A brand new year brings brand new music and Indie hit Cas Jones is, for once, conforming to trends. Cas, also known as CASSLE, is unveiling her new album, Feel, which is going to be hitting shelves by mid June, according to her label, Coconut Records. Since the star found fame in early 2016, there has been no shortage of material to keep her fans crazing all over social medias.
Her first single in February of the same year was influential in the Indie scene for its innovative nature and for its experimental use of country sound with certain elements of house. This style was originally met with distaste from critics but gained a strong youth following soon after, presumably due to her style resonating with the lives and thoughts of younger audiences. Given how fast Cas has climbed the Indie ladder, it is hard to imagine what could be done from here. That is, until you ask her. “Write better music”, says Cas. “I’ve got to start piecing things together and improve my work and better myself”.
The star has mentioned that after this year’s success she aims to run with the momentum and be as active with her community as possible. Cas has openly spoken further about her music, recently, in an interview with The Independent; “It’s how I feel. It’s a projection of how I feel about things in life today”. When asked for the plans for the year ahead, the answer was succinct: “Make the audience happy”.
The Indie star has also revealed the hardship in her work, “Trying to put my thoughts in a way that people enjoy isn’t the easiest, it’s like playing a documentary in a disco and making it enjoyable ... You get into a flow though, used to constantly thinking of new things”.
“I feel like I really thrive off the challenge though, when you start by yourself and build up to be the best you can be at what you do, anyone can do that but it doesn‘t make it less special”.
Shortly after Cas’ quick beginning, fans have been asking for live shows in some form and have yet to be answered succinctly. It is widely speculated that there will not be any word on this for some time simply because of the lacking responses from the star and all associates. While not common, it is certainly not unheard of for independent artists such as Cas to go on tour so early in their career, but with such a great demand for it many are hopeful to bring a chance of mind. The international exposure has been somewhat limited
without a proper label but still, many countries have shown great interest in the new style of music booming from the UK.
After a successful year and into another, CASSLE prepares to impress and seems hopeful for the future. She’s one to watch out for considering what’s been said and if you didn’t know her before, here’s your wake-up call.
